Coron : Island Hopping Day

We were excited for the next day for it is what we came here for, to explore the limestone islands of Coron. Excited ako first time ko. hehehehe

Before we went to Coron, we had our hotel arrange the island hopping tour for us, para less hassle na. We will just need to pay them and then its good to go. We were picked up from the hotel around 8am. And then we proceed to the docks, where we met other groups who will be joining us in the tour.

that is our boat for the day...together with the manongs and the tour guide.

our tour guide and our group

Our first stop was the ever famous Kayangan Lake. This was supposed to be the last part of the tour, but our tour guide decided that we go here first, since if we went there in the afternoon, there will be lots of people already. (may point nga naman). I was amazed of the beauty of this islands. The water was so clear that you can see the bottom of it from the boat. I was a little bit scared because I did not know if it was still shallow or its already deep since the water is very clear.

True enough, Kayangan Lake is like the "icon" of Coron. Whenever you search something about Coron, its always the first thing that you will see. I think we were one of the first groups to be there. We went down the boat, and you can see small fishes swimming below. Thats how clear the water is. There will be a mini hike on the mountains to reach the other lake at the back. But of course picture taking muna.

Beautiful will be an understatement for these islands and lakes. Kaya naman ang daming gustong gustong pumunta dito dahil kasi talagang maganda at malinis. You will not resist the blue and green colors of the water, and in no time, you will find yourself swimming with everyone else. It is really something different and to look forward to.

I can swim here for hours and hours and I will not get tired. The water is so clean and clear that its unbelievable. After an two hours, we were asked to go back to the boat and will be going to our next destination.

Our next destination is really not an island, but instead we went snorkeling in the middle of the vast sea. One piece of advice, do not go to Coron without having a snorkeling equipment and an underwater camera with you. It will make the experience even better. We did not bring one, but the good thing is the tour allows you to rent them (100 per person, not to bad). My friend tried it, but I did not because I dont know how to swim! hahahahaah...(totoo, even with a life jacket..nattakot ako..ang lalim kaya!. After the snorkeling, we proceeded to a secluded beach to have our lunch.

The tour package includes this lunch feast. The whole morning while we were island hopping and snorkeling, the crew is already preparing the lunch that we will be eating. Our food really taste good and it was really plenty, ranges from ensaladang talong, inihaw na baboy, rice, i think there was even crabs, and mangoes. Did I mention that the tour also has two kayaks that we are allowed to use? nice diba! After eating my friend and I tried using it. Nakkapagod but it was a good exercise for us.

I think all of the beaches here has white sand and crystal blue water in which we do not complain and appreciate it so much. Just like the beach were we had our lunch, its just beautiful.

After eating, we went to the next destination, The Twin Lagoon. Wondering why its called twin? because its two lagoons separated by a mountain and you can reach them both by passing through a small hole in between them. When we were there, the tour guide asked us to go swimming, because that is the only way you will reach the other side. Kahit hindi ako marunong mag swim, kumuha ako ng life jacket at sumama sa knila...ayokong maiwan mag isa sa boat! hahahaaha.

It was really nice, it was tiring, but it was worth it. Nakakatakot lang ung pag lusot dun sa maliit na butas kasi baka mauntog at masugat ako...pero hindi naman :D

The other side of the lagoon was really nice, you are there swimming in a 100+ feet of cold blue water and surrounded by towering limestone formations plus the clear blue sky. It is something you cant really describe in words, but you have to experience it on your own.

The manong tour guide who was assisting us whenever we go swimming is really good, bibo at maraming alam (he even asked us whats the difference between a lagoon and a lake, in which i dont have any clue what is the answer). After we went back, I was happy that I decided to join them...kakaibang saya eh :D hehehe

It was already in the afternoon when our tour ended, and we went back to the hotel at around 5pm. I think we went swimming again sa pool. And then we freshened up and prepared for dinner.

Before we went to dinner in Coron, we stopped by a tshirt shop. Sympre kailangan merong souvenir. Ganda lang nung tshirt...

We had our last dinner in a pizza place. Forgot the name of the place, but the food was really good. Some members of our group tour was already there to have their dinner. Fairly priced and was good enough for the taste.

We went back to the hotel around 8pm. And we went swimming again before resting. Talagang sinulit ung resort. We had the jacuzzi for ourselves again hahahaha.

The next day we went back to Manila. Make sure to leave your hotel about two hours before you flight, because Busuanga Airport is around an hour away from Coron.

Coron is truly a jewel on its own. No wonder often times, Palawan is called as the last frontier of the Philippines, because this place is truly majestic in all aspects. The simple life of the town is something I really appreciate and the food...the food is really great! I honestly did not expect that the food was this good. One thing that I will take with me, aside from the limestone formations and the food, is that the people of this town is really nice, mababait at approachable lahat! You will feel really safe and will enjoy roaming around town. All in all, I enjoyed this trip, and will be definitely coming again to explore the other islands from this town.

until my next journey
